What could happen if you started to rise early?

It’s like I discovered a pocket of space and time in my life that wasn’t there before.
— Dr Ashley White, A Mind Full

Sometimes it seems like there isn't enough time

You may be stuck.  Frustrated.  You can't find time to do something that matters for your future.  Study, exercise, develop a business, write or blog.

Right now you might think that you could never wake up at 5am - and enjoy it.  I never thought I could. I had a friend that did and I thought she was crazy.  I can't believe I'm saying this, but 5am is now my favorite time of the day.

You may even feel guilty about not working towards a particular goal. For me, it was exercising,  writing and building my blog.  What is it for you?   Take a few minutes to have a think.  Pull out a piece of paper and have a quick brainstorm.  It might be more than one thing.

We are so limited by time

I bet the main reason is time.  You're so busy.  Work, kids, study, housework, caring for parents.  Whatever it is, you're just keeping your head above water to get through the normal stuff.

The cold hard truth is that no one is going to give you more time.  It's just not going to happen.  We have to control our time.  We have to take control and schedule the things that matter most into our days.

Have you considered waking early?

Today have a think about what you could do if you woke early. Maybe, 5 days of the week. (You still want a good lie in occasionally).  Could those few peaceful extra hours be the time you need to make some big changes?

Let's say you got up 2 hours earlier, 5 days a week.  That's a total of 10 hours a week.  520 hours a year.  When you think about it like that, we're talking a lot of time.

So many successful people are doing it

The idea of rising was certainly not my idea.  When I first became addicted to listening to podcasts - mainly on simple living and productivity -  there was a message that kept repeating itself.  Become an early riser. Lots of people were saying how their lives had changed for the best after deciding to rise before the sun.

New bodies, new books and new businesses are being created while others are sleeping.  Are you missing out like I was?  Some of these really productive people get up as early as 3.30.  Now that's hardcore. But 5am is achievable.

Take some time to think about having that extra time

No need to start waking up early tomorrow.  Just get your head around the idea.  Today you could take the first step and check out some of the resources below.   Spend some time reflecting on what you could do with the extra time.
